Head of Business Intelligence & IT

The Head of Business Intelligence & IT provides strategic leadership across data, technology, and digital infrastructure to strengthen organizational decision-making, operational efficiency, and long-term digital transformation. This role ensures that World Vision Malaysia leverages data insights, modern systems, and reliable technology to drive impact, supporter engagement, and organizational effectiveness.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Head of Business Intelligence & IT contributes to organizational strategy, cross-departmental planning, and enterprise-wide initiatives that support growth, innovation, and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

1. Business Intelligence & Data Strategy

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of meaningful, accurate, and user-friendly data reports for all departments.

• Establish and maintain a robust data glossary, ensuring consistent definitions and data literacy across the organization.

• Implement automated data refresh processes to ensure real-time or near-real-time reporting.

• Deliver monthly insight reports covering peer activity and benchmarking, market and industry trends, website and digital performance.

• Partner with department heads to translate data into actionable insights that support decision-making, forecasting, and strategic planning.

2. Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL)

• Design and implement a standardized post-project evaluation framework.

• Ensure 100% of projects undergo evaluation within 60 days of completion.

• Build organizational capability in project evaluation, learning loops, and continuous improvement.

• Provide leadership in synthesizing insights from evaluations to inform future planning and resource allocation.

3. IT Infrastructure, Systems & Digital Transformation

• Oversee the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring security, reliability, and alignment with global standards.

• Strengthen cybersecurity awareness, protocols, and compliance.

• Ensure all technical downtime is addressed and resolved within agreed timeframes.

4. Digital Projects & Technology Enablement

• Support the on-time execution of WABA (WhatsApp Business API) initiatives and website improvement projects.

• Collaborate with Communications, Supporter Engagement, and other teams to enhance digital touchpoints and supporter journeys.

• Evaluate and recommend new technologies that improve efficiency, supporter experience, and organizational capability.

5. Leadership & Team Management

• Provide strategic direction and coaching to the Data Analyst, IT Manager, and IT Junior Executive.

• Build a high-performing team culture grounded in collaboration, innovation, and service excellence.

• Manage departmental budgets, vendor relationships, and technology procurement.

• Represent the BI & IT function at the Executive Leadership Team, contributing to organizational strategy and cross-functional initiatives.

Qualifications & experience

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or related field.

• 8+ years of experience in data analytics, IT leadership, digital transformation, or related domains.

• Proven experience leading teams and managing cross-functional digital or data initiatives.

• Strong understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, Google Workspace), data visualization tools, and IT infrastructure.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience in the NGO, social impact, or corporate sector is an advantage.

• Improvement in internal and supporter digital experience enabled by technology solutions

• Cybersecurity compliance and reduction in security-related incidents

• Performance, development, and engagement of BI & IT team members

• Budget adherence and effectiveness of vendor and technology resource management

• Quality of contribution to Executive Leadership Team discussions and organizational strategy

• Alignment of BI & IT initiatives with World Vision Malaysia's mission, values, and strategic priorities
