Finance Associate

The Finance Associate supports World Vision Malaysia's financial integrity, sustainability, and accountability by ensuring accurate financial management, compliance, and reporting.

 

This role is responsible for maintaining sound financial records, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, and providing financial insights that enable informed decision-making. The position plays a key role in upholding donor confidence, regulatory compliance, and effective stewardship of organizational resources in alignment with World Vision Malaysia's mission and values.

Key responsibilities

1. Financial Management & Compliance

• Maintain accurate and timely financial records in accordance with accounting standards and internal policies.

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow monitoring to ensure financial sustainability.

• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, donor requirements, and internal financial controls.

• Assist in maintaining proper documentation and audit trails for financial transactions.

2. Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare periodic financial statements and management reports.

• Track financial trends, variances, and expenditure patterns.

• Provide basic financial analysis and insights to support departmental and management decision-making.

• Support timely and accurate reporting to donors and internal stakeholders.

3. Auditing & Risk Management

• Assist in internal and external audit processes, including preparation of schedules and supporting documents.

• Ensure compliance with audit requirements and follow up on audit findings.

• Support implementation of internal controls and risk mitigation measures to safeguard organizational assets.

4. Budgeting & Advisory Support

• Support the development and monitoring of departmental budgets and forecasts.

• Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and areas for improved financial efficiency.

• Provide financial guidance to departments to support sound planning and resource utilization.

5. Communication & Collaboration

• Support financial communication by explaining financial procedures and reports to non-finance staff.

• Assist in basic finance-related training or guidance to staff as required.

Qualifications & experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Minimum 2–4 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, or audit roles.

• Basic knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting, and budgeting processes.

• Familiarity with NGO or donor-funded environments is an advantage.

• Proficient in MS Excel and accounting/financial systems.

• Good command of written and spoken English (Mandarin is an advantage).

• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet reporting deadlines.
