Five Girls. Big Dreams.

We invite you to hear their stories at BORDERS, The Curve this September!

In some parts of the world, it’s harder for girls and boys to survive childhood, go to school, choose a job, or even choose their path at all. Often it’s because they don’t have basics like food or education. Other times, their communities’ beliefs about what children can and can’t do, especially girls, hold them back.

But even with these challenges, children can still dream big. Many of them believed they could change their worlds, and they didn’t give up until they did. Children like...

...

In Semira’s village in Ethiopia, girls had to do all the chores, but boys didn’t.

Now, Semira hopes that every girl will have a chance to finish school!

...

In Roslinda’s village, children couldn’t go to school because they didn’t have birth certificates.

Today, almost every child there has one!

...

Saving a little bit of money every day can add up to something big.

Some children dream of being entrepreneurs when they grow up, but Jhesie doesn’t need to dream!

...

Children need a way to get help if they need it.

Senuri hopes her app will help more children who are afraid to speak up to find their voice.

...

In Sudha’s village, girls are required to stay at home and help their mothers.

Sudha’s dad doesn’t think girls should stay home anymore. She’s shown him just how much girls can do!

The art of storytelling inspires and emboldens us. At the Kids Who Dared to Dream Storytelling Hour, we’re bringing you the stories of these five girls from around the world who were curious, determined, creative, and brave. They believed they could change their worlds and they didn’t give up until they did – because children in need can dream too.
