Building Sustainable Communities

Sabah has the highest poverty rate in Malaysia —17.7% in 2024. Through our Community Development Programmes (CDP) in Mukim Tulid and Mukim Tatalaan, we work with local partners to transform financial decline to self-sufficiency.

Assisting the Urban Poor Across Klang Valley and Sarawak

Through sports paired with targeted nutrition education, One Goal Malaysia – Eat Right to Play Right addresses child malnutrition in low-income urban communities, using sports as a powerful catalyst for positive change.

What needs to change in Malaysia?

Despite progress, the reality for many children in Malaysia remains urgent:

Families At Risk

Although overall absolute poverty stood at 6.2% in 2022, 8.7% rural households with children were hit harder

Addressing Child Malnutrition

In 2024, malnutrition caused permanent stunting in 8.1% of children aged 5 to 19, while 28% struggled with overweight or obesity

Protecting Vulnerable Children

A total of 9,624 children required protection from abuse in 2024, marking a 12.7% increase

At World Vision, we are committed to full transparency. All resources entrusted to us are used as efficiently and effectively as possible. In rare cases where donations exceed what is needed, or where local conditions prevent programme implementation, World Vision will redirect funds to equally important programmes that help children and families in need.
